Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.

1 Corinthians 10:16-17

Have you ever thought about the complexities of the human body and how many working parts contribute to serving one function? Just think of a machine as complex as the eye or as unfathomable as the human brain.

The church is the same way; it’s made up of many gifts, ethnicities, cultures, stories, and talents, all serving the same God in a beautiful, complex way. However different we all may look from each other, we have all recognized that living for Jesus is more important than anything else we could spend our lives doing.

This generation of young believers has an opportunity to impact the trajectory of the global church community. If we center ourselves on the fact that we have been rescued from our sinfulness and have been called to walk in the light, the world will see a powerful, unified church. God has created each of us in unique ways, but He’s also called us to serve Him together. Unity doesn’t happen by chance; it requires us to be intentional with our actions. Take time today to encourage a fellow brother or sister to stay unified in the faith.

Prayer

Jesus, help us to celebrate each other’s gifts so that, together, we can carry out Your amazing purposes.

Scripture References

9Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.
26What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.
16Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?
17Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.
17As iron sharpens iron,

so one person sharpens another.

12Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.
13For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
