For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.

Summary

Today, we want to focus on why we are all here: Jesus.

Maybe you've been wondering, what on earth am I here for? Why do I exist? What is all this? Where do we come from? 

Paul tells us that everything we see and don't see was created by and for Jesus and that He is holding all of us together. So we can have confidence today in our purpose. Our purpose is to love Jesus, live for Him, and worship Him above all else, no matter where we are or who we’re with. He created us, sustains us, and is the only one worthy of all of our praise.

Prayer:

Jesus, today I say thank You. Thank You for life and breath, for salvation and sustaining grace. I praise You for who You are—You alone are Lord God Almighty, and for that reason alone, I give You honor in this place. Take Your rightful place on the throne of my heart. You deserve all of the honor and glory forever. Amen.

1In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.

20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,
21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
40Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him.
