Let’s start our last day together with an introduction. Grab your journal or open your notes app and fill in the blanks with us.

Hi, my name is ________. I used to think I was ______________ and defined by ___________, but in Christ, I know that I am ____________, and I know God is ________________.

You are not forgotten, forsaken, or passed over. You are not defined by your school, family, or past. In Christ, you are loved, redeemed, chosen, and have found God to be a loving Father, a faithful friend, forever seated on His throne.

We hope you can feel the labels shaking off as we conclude our time together. Let’s look to scripture together one last time and discover who we really are and who He has always been.

Summary

But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.”  Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.  Exodus 3:11-14

In Exodus 3, we encounter Moses. After running away from Egypt, he is tending his flock on a mountain when God appears to him in a burning bush. God tells Moses that he is going to return to Egypt and deliver God’s people from oppression, but Moses was afraid. He quarrels with God, chalking up his inability to go to his past and his weaknesses. We see God’s response in the scripture above.

God doesn’t list out what is true about Moses in this moment. Rather, God reminds Moses of who He is. We see Moses go on to lead God’s people out of Egypt and oppression, confident that the God who called Him is the God who would carry Him. Hold hands with this truth in our final moments together. If you have placed your faith in Jesus, He lives in you and confidently calls you to make His glory known to the world around you.

When we see the Father, we see what we are really made of and what we are called to do.

Who do you think you are? A loved son and daughter of the most High God.

Who is He? Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. (Matthew 16:16)

Who is Truth? Jesus, and knowing Him will set you free. (John 8:32)

Who you really are is found in who He has always been.

What's Next?

Take a moment to relisten as Sadie lists out the attributes of who God is.

  1. What truths about God’s character do you need to cling to?

  2. Have you ever questioned God when he called you to something? How might you obey today?
