Summary
We have all been in an emergency before. Maybe even reading the word “emergency” conjures up a familiar feeling of panic, or a reminder of something unexpected happening, where you were left to scramble for a solution.
The unexpected phone call.
The smell of the doctor’s office.
The “Can we talk?” text.
The rejection letter.
The goodbye you didn’t expect.
We don’t have to sit in those memories long to remember how it felt to need an immediate answer, or want to pull the escape hatch and bail completely.
It’s in those times of emergency, of panic, of need, that we find ourselves surveying what’s around us and looking for a solution. It’s in those moments that the empty platitudes of “God’s got it!” or “Everything happens for a reason” can be just that: empty.
So what do we do? Where do we go?
We believe that help is closer than you know, and that we find it, not hidden in obscurity, but in the plain sight of scriptures you may already know.
Paul writes in his letter to Timothy:
“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:14-17
And the writer of Hebrews tells us this very same scripture is, “living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Heb. 4:12)
Over the next four days, we will look to the inspired Word of God, and find new hope inside the verses we may have heard 100 times. We believe that in moments of crisis, you will know how to turn to His Word for guidance, protection, and truth–no matter what lies ahead of you. Let’s get started.
