Seven Words That Can Change Everything

There are words that change everything for us. Words that build us up and words that tear us down. There are words we welcome, ones we invite into the deepest parts of our hearts, and words that, no matter how we try to fight them, find their way to hurt us. Louie Giglio wants to encourage you around which words are which so that you can know the words that Jesus wants to speak over you.

13When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples,

“Who do people say the Son of Man is?”

14They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

“But what about you?”

he asked.

“Who do you say I am?”

16Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17Jesus replied,

“Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

And I tell you that you are Peter,

and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades

will not overcome it.

42And he brought him to Jesus.

Jesus looked at him and said,

“You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas”

(which, when translated, is Peter).

1See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

2Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

12Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

13Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

15When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter,

“Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”

“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”

Jesus said,

“Feed my lambs.”

16Again Jesus said,

“Simon son of John, do you love me?”

He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”

Jesus said,

“Take care of my sheep.”

17The third time he said to him,

“Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time,

“Do you love me?”

He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”

Jesus said,

“Feed my sheep.

Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”

Father.”

16The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
