Lord
’s, and everything in it,

the world, and all who live in it;

2for he founded it on the seas

and established it on the waters.

3Who may ascend the mountain of the
Lord
?

Who may stand in his holy place?

4The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,

who does not trust in an idol

or swear by a false god.

5They will receive blessing from the
Lord

and vindication from God their Savior.

6Such is the generation of those who seek him,

who seek your face, God of Jacob.

8Who is this King of glory?

The

Lord
strong and mighty,

Lord
mighty in battle.

The

Lord
Almighty—

he is the King of glory.

1I will extol the
Lord
at all times;

his praise will always be on my lips.

he delivered me from all my fears.

9Fear the
Lord

for those who fear him lack nothing.

Lord
lack no good thing.

11Come, my children, listen to me;

I will teach you the fear of the

Lord
.

12Whoever of you loves life

and desires to see many good days,

13keep your tongue from evil

and your lips from telling lies.

14Turn from evil and do good;

seek peace and pursue it.

15The eyes of the
Lord
are on the righteous,

and his ears are attentive to their cry;

16but the face of the
Lord
is against those who do evil,

to blot out their name from the earth.

17The righteous cry out, and the
Lord
hears them;

he delivers them from all their troubles.

18The
Lord
is close to the brokenhearted

and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

19The righteous person may have many troubles,

but the

Lord
delivers him from them all;

20he protects all his bones,

not one of them will be broken.

21Evil will slay the wicked;

the foes of the righteous will be condemned.

22The
Lord
will rescue his servants;

no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

13When he arrived, there was Eli sitting on his chair by the side of the road, watching, because his heart feared for the ark of God. When the man entered the town and told what had happened, the whole town sent up a cry.
19But God struck down some of the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh, putting seventy of them to death because they looked into the ark of the
Lord
. The people mourned because of the heavy blow the
Lord
had dealt them.
20And the people of Beth Shemesh asked, “Who can stand in the presence of the
Lord
, this holy God? To whom will the ark go up from here?”
21Then they sent messengers to the people of Kiriath Jearim, saying, “The Philistines have returned the ark of the
Lord
. Come down and take it up to your town.”
9David was afraid of the
Lord
that day and said, “How can the ark of the
Lord
ever come to me?”
