Everlasting God

Who is this God we can know? How can we know that we can trust that he is bigger than our circumstances? His name is Elohim, El Olam, the everlasting and eternal God. His story is not confined to our story, in fact, His story is not even confined to time. He has been and will be. And yet, with all of existence within Him He has chosen you before the foundations of the Earth. He loves you, He is for you, and He wants you to know more and more of who He is.

This week, Louie Giglio wants us to broaden the lens through which we see God. After all, in order to have a right view of our lives, we have to have a right view of God. We need to know that there is a deeper level of spirituality we have access to because our God is calling us into it. He is the everlasting and eternal God; before all and after all and yet He is aware of the most minute details of your life. The God you can know knows you, and He loves you.

Lord

is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary,

and his understanding no one can fathom.

34At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever.

His dominion is an eternal dominion;

his kingdom endures from generation to generation.

“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

23“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

48The Jews answered him, “Aren’t we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?”

“I am not possessed by a demon,”

said Jesus,

“but I honor my Father and you dishonor me.

I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge.

Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death.”

52At this they exclaimed, “Now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death.

53Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?”

54Jesus replied,

“If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me.

Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word.

Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.”

57“You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!”

“Very truly I tell you,”

Jesus answered,

“before Abraham was born, I am!”
