The Lie That Launches a Million Sins

How do we deal with temptation? Where does it come from? How does it work? How should we respond? All trials bring temptations, and part of persevering through trials is learning how to respond to them. Continuing the “This Changes Everything” collection, Ben Stuart reminds us that while there are no perfect people, there is a perfect God, and He delights in us!

Scripture References

13When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;
14but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.
15Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
16Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.
17Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
18He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
22All at once he followed her

like an ox going to the slaughter,

like a deer stepping into a noose
