The Devastating Beauty of the Cross

Louie Giglio leads us through Colossians 1, what it looks like to see and believe the cross, and how that belief transfers into our walks with God. He teaches us that while sin makes us spiritually dead, the cross makes us alive because of God’s rich mercy, canceling any shame and guilt and giving us a new identity so we can live differently.

16I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,

17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,

18may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,

19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

14May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

2and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

10Yet it was the

Lord

’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,

and though the

Lord

makes his life an offering for sin,

he will see his offspring and prolong his days,

and the will of the

Lord

will prosper in his hand.

10This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
