Grounded

Camilo Buchanan kicks off our brand new collection, Holy Ground, teaching from Acts 16. As we are reminded of the many miracles God performed in the Bible, we are challenged to invite the Holy Spirit’s presence to every ground we walk on, deeming it holy ground and leaving us expectant.

Key Takeaway

Holy Ground is the place where God's power and man's opportunity collide as a result of God's empowering sovereign presence and the believer's yielded ability.

  1. We let our circumstances dictate how close we feel or don't feel to God. Maturity in your Christian walk is understanding that suffering isn't an indication that God is far away; sometimes, it's vindication that you're closer to God than you know.
  2. Paul and Silas stay planted in the prison when the doors open because they recognize that they are on holy ground. Although it seemed as if God was freeing Paul and Silas, He was actually freeing up the jailer.

  1. Prayer over panic. Paul and Silas don't jump to conclusions; they jump to their knees. Their perspective is elevated.
  2. Praise over pain. It's popular to say that worship is a weapon, but we need to believe that worship is healing.
  3. Purpose over pleasure. Paul and Silas stayed planted because they knew why they were planted.
  4. Proclamation over passivity. Paul and Silas took the opportunity to tell the jailer about Jesus. We have the same opportunity in our workplace and schools to tell people about what He has done for us.

Quote

"If you're a believer, where you are is a holy ground. The question is: will you occupy it?"
