Complacency Must Fall

06.11.2017

45M

“Complacency is when we have willingly tolerated something in our lives that we know is not God’s plan for us.”

God has the power to set us free. Instead of living comfortably and being complacent, we can start today by stepping into the fullness of what He has called us to, giving up anything less than the best He has for us.

Key Takeaway

God wants more for us. As we look at the things in our lives that are allowing us to live comfortable, complacent lives, we can believe and trust in God to surrender those things and allow Him to fill us with something greater—Himself.

How is complacency going to fall?

1. When we say in our hearts that we've had enough.

  • Have we had enough of the addiction, temptation, relationship, etc?
  • You're willing to risk pain, defeat, hardship, etc., to get hold of what God has promised you.
  • We need to see that we're already at rock bottom without Jesus and come to terms with what we've tolerated in our lives.
  • It's time to stop rationalizing, excusing, and tolerating.

2. When we become vulnerable.

  • We need to make phone calls, find people, and tell them what we're facing.
  • We shouldn't hide our scars. They are proof that we made it out alive and that God will heal them. They are a testimony.

3. When we trade the victim attitude with the victor attitude.

  • Believe that we are linked to the power of Jesus, and we can walk in His victory
  • The enemy tries to tell us that we will never see anything positive happen in our lives, but that is not from God.
  • Jesus was the ultimate victim, and He stands strong as a victor, inviting you to join in the triumph.
  • Jesus doesn't want us defined by our scars but by His.

4. When we root ourselves in the long arc of heaven.

  • We understand that even if we're walking through hardship, we can look beyond the surface and understand that we will face eternal glory that is so much greater.

5. When we realize our stories are about so much more than us.

  • God will use us to spread the aroma of His knowledge everywhere.

Quote

The power and the victory in the life that God destined you for is not in the shadows, but it's stepping up into the light of everything He's promised for you.
