Jesus, meet me in the moments just before.
These are the breaths that will empower my lungs,
and yours is the breath that will empower my heart.
Prepare me as I prepare myself to end the rest that has filled me up
and put my hands to the work that you’ve set for me to do.
I will find satisfaction in my work.
Finding satisfaction in my work is a gift from God.
I will never know the extent of my reach,
so Lord, help me work with excellence.
I will never know how many are watching,
so help me work with integrity.
I will never know what doors this will open,
so help me work with honor.
And if I receive nothing for my toil but my wage
and the satisfaction of having represented you in it,
may I be fulfilled.
I will find satisfaction in my work.
Finding satisfaction in my work is a gift from God.
Father, teach me not to work for praise,
for wealth or worldly accolades.
Teach my heart to beat for what makes yours beat, too.
Teach me that my work is not my self.
Show me that I work from validation, not for it.
Remind me that my identity is safe with you.
Teach me that my work is not in isolation.
Give me the bandwidth to pick up the burdens of my co-workers.
Fill my cup so full that I can raise the tide of this whole harbor.
I will find satisfaction in my work.
Finding satisfaction in my work is a gift from God.
Teach me to work well and then to rest well, as you modeled.
May I leave the work when it should be left, and pick it up when it is time.
May all I touch and all I do,
and everything I put my hands to,
reflect nothing of me
and all of you.
