Key Takeaway
We have the opportunity to say yes to riding with Jesus and become a person who stewards life well, walks in faith, and has a principled life. Let God build your life.
We have the capacity to go with God. It's called your next yes.
The Bible says in Matthew 5:37 tells us that we are to let our yes be yes and our no be no. God wants you to find that place in life where you have the confidence of knowing what He wants you to do right now.
The next yes can put you in charge of your life. The footnote is that God is sovereign over your life. He runs history, the present, eternity, and He is in charge of your life. The God that is in charge of everything had given you the opportunity to be the steward over your life. We have the ability to say yes and no, and with that we have the ability to steward our life for God. This isn't about taking ownership of our lives...God is the owner. But He is leasing them to us, allowing us to be in the mix with Him, and say yes to the plans He has for us.
Your next yes can also move you away from a fear-based life. Our lives boil down to faith or fear. Fear is the driver of the world. We have a massive fear of missing out. When this happens to someone whose yes isn't solid in God, it unravels them to the core. Their identity of insecurity is exposed. We're also afraid of who we'll become, of losing everything, and not doing the right thing. This is where our yes to God moves us from fear to faith. Jesus came out of the tomb, He is risen today, so let that rock land in the lake called fear. You can have a brand new future. You can say yes to asking for help and then taking the help. It's the little decisions that matter. The help is from God to help lead you out of a fear-based life. The psalmist says in Psalm 27:13 that he would remain confident that he would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. That's living in faith. Who knows what God wants to birth through you for the world? In Philippians 1:3-6, Paul is convinced that what God starts cannot be stopped, and he is trying to remind us of that.
Our next yes can build in us a powerful, centered, principled life. We have lost the meaning of the saying "my word is my bond." It used to be common for your yes to be yes and your no to be no. James 1:8 says a double-minded person is unstable in all he does. We develop a character every time we break our word. It builds a lifestyle of instability. God never breaks His word. He will keep His promise to you. So, you can't be walking with an Almighty covenant keeper, be flimsy with your yes and no, and expect to grow up and be like your Father.
Do not become a part of the fear-based culture. You aren't missing out on anything of value when you are following God's plan for you. We are a chosen people; you have a mission. Wake up from the culture that changes its mind constantly and rides along with everyone but God. Say yes to riding with Jesus and become the person who stewards your life well, walks in faith, and has a principled life. Let God build your life.
