Continuing in the All Consuming Fire collection, Louie Giglio presses into the truth that Jesus is coming soon, and we must worship Him above all else. Though we will be tempted to worship other things or people, we must avert our eyes back to Him and choose light over darkness.
Key Takeaway
If we believe God's Word to be trustworthy, we must believe it when it tells us that Jesus is returning soon, and we should worship Him accordingly.
When we read Revelation 22:6, we are reminded of the simple fact that His words are trustworthy.
He is coming soon. Look, and be awake to what He is doing. Trust His words.
He is coming, and our response should be to worship Him.
You will be tempted to worship everything or everyone else other than God, but Revelation encourages you to return to the true source and reason for your worship.
Not only is He coming, but He is coming SOON, and we need to utterly adore Him. The time is near, and there is still time to turn from our wicked ways and choose to follow Him (Revelation 22:10).
When Jesus began his public ministry, his first words were, as recorded in Mark 1:15, "The time has come," he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
Again, we see the same urgency in 1 John 2:18-23 when John refers to the end times as "the last hour."
It is time to choose darkness or light.
He is the Alpha and Omega (Revelation 1:8), meaning that the beginning and the ending are all about Jesus. Scripture is composed of 66 books, with one story and one name.
If we reference Isaiah 41:12 and Revelation 22:16, we see God referred to as a morning star, meaning dawn is on the way. When we say, "Come, Lord Jesus," that also means "come dawn of God." Sunrise is coming soon, and there is an invitation on the table.
There is still time to come and freely drink the water of life.
When we make the decision to follow Christ, we must continually seek Him and ward off the temptation to drift from Him. The church declares Maranatha (come Lord Jesus) in 1 Corinthians 16:19-24, yet forty years later, in Revelation 2:1-7, we read about the Church forsaking their first love.
In one generation, the Church became the receiver vs. the sender. They now needed to be reminded of Christ.
What do you have to do to drift? Nothing.
“I must keep alive in myself the desire for my true country, which I shall not find ‘till after death; I must never let it get snowed under or turned aside; I must make it the main object of life to press on to that other country and to help others do the same.”
