Our greatest problem is not physical death but spiritual death. Sin separates us from God and leaves us powerless to save ourselves. But Jesus came so that we could live spiritually forever.
Through His atonement, He overcame the death that sin brings, making it possible for us to have a new identity, hope, and purpose. This is good news, that all of the things that are true of us are possible because we are alive in Christ.

Even while we were dead in our sins and transgressions, God’s mercy reached us, and through faith His grace became active in our lives. We have been raised with Christ, not by our own efforts, but by the gift of His grace. It it by grace we have been saved. Everything true of us as believers flows from this reality: we are alive in Christ.
